We visited Brian's house in upstate. Their back yard was at their best with full of beautifully colored leaves! Made me want to make a video... I love orange. Actually my camera shoots HD but I don't know how to upload in that high quality.

今週末は紅葉まっさかり。こんなビデオ作って、現実逃避、、。HDで撮ってるんだけど、マック付属のおもちゃビデオエディターではHDでアップできないっぽい。

アムステルダムのコンビニで発見

         コンビニで見つけた、小さい、ちゅうぐらい寿司。

おいしいのかな～。日本食人気みたいで、カンファレンスの会場にも回転すしが！！一皿4ユーロからとかだよ、、どんな寿司だっつーの。

Rainy, Cloudy, and cold... but enjoyed walking around for 3 hours. Everything is too expensive to purchase!

結局、雨が降ったりやんだりする中、3時間ぶらぶらと、、寒いし。高いし。街がきれいだけなのが救いですわ。明日から仕事なので、休息せねば！！

1st day in Amsterdam

Okay so I am in Amsterdam now! As I have expected, got on the wrong train to go to Amsterdam Central Station. Their schedule was messed up and train was running slow, so what can I do! I should have just took a cab but cab is so expensive and train is only 3 Euro.....  I kept asking people and finally got to central station. I forgot that in order to open the train door, I have to press button, and I had to ask people how to open the door. How embarassing! I gave up getting on a tram with my suit case from central station. I just didn't want to drag around my luggage. so I took a cab and paid 22 Euro for 10min. cab ride....so expensive! Now I got to the hotel too early for the check-in, I decided to eat breakfast. I mean, nothing is open yet (8am) and nothing else to do...

The weather isn't very pretty today, cold and rainy! Fortunately I visited here last year and I am somewhat familiar with the environment, that's good.Eating Salami and Cheese, feels like an European (!?)  I guess this conference I am going to is very big event in Amsterdam, a lot of people are here for that right now. I saw many people getting lost at the station. I am not alone. It sucks to be alone in the foreign country and get lost. You feel lonely! Hopefully I will see my colleagues soon. I don't like eating by myself either. Totally not a person who can travel alone.

アムステルダムに来ました。出張です。海外出張で一人は初めて。。後で他の拠点の人たちと合流ですが、寂しい～！心ぼそい～！笑　せめてもの救いは、アムステルダムは去年来てたから。風景は変わってないし、良いけど。予想通り空港からの電車は乗り間違え。人に聞いて乗り継ぎを成し遂げ、、しかし車両には私一人ぽつ～ん。朝の7時。果たして本当に合ってる電車に乗っているのか、不安になりながらもなんとかセントラルに到着！トラムを探してみたが。雨だし。傘ないし。断念。タクシーにのってホテルへ。やっとついたよ。しかし朝早すぎてチェックインできず、、仕方なく朝ごはんを食べてます。

今回はアムステルダムでやる大きなカンファレンスに来てるんだけど、本当大勢の人たちがそれに来ているようで、飛行機でも駅でも、それらしき人たちがたくさんいた。大きなカンファレンスとは聞いているが、どれだけ大きいんだ！？楽しみです。今日は天気が悪く。何しようかなあ。。一人で旅行は本当向いてないわ。

Busy days!

忙しい。全く。。。明日からアムステルダム＆ロンドン出張です。欧州は、普段あんまり出張はないんだけど（ロンドン拠点があるから）今回は特別です。ちなみに最近は会社のグローバル化マーケティング活動を一人で張り切っており、ようやく公式発表された。予期せず勝手にクオートされ。。。良い引用だったから良かったものの、勝手にスポークスパーソンにされた。（っていっても他に喋る人いないんだけど）日経でも記事になるかもしれないらしい。そしたら嬉しい。

Busy week for me! Going to Amsterdam and London from this weekend... I have been working on a marketing project and finally the ranking that I was working on got released! I got quoted accidentally but overall they wrote a good article about us so I was pretty excited about it. I am trying to push my company towards globalization. Otherwise our economy won't survive! We cannot support our own culture, our culture cannot grow... I think it is a lot of Asian country's concern but especially Japan has such a low growth rate and less children, it will be harder and harder for our generation to build a sustainable and comfortable country.

ハロウィーンもうすぐです。今日はがいこつウォッカ発見！いいなー。いいなー。でも高そうだなー。

Pom Poms Staying!

Did I upload this photo yet? I have been having forgetfull week. I have been so busy at work and all I want to do at home is blog and sleep! hahaha. Above photo was taken on the day of the house warming/Brian's birthday party. I wanted to make something special for the occasion, so I made these pom poms for the ceiling. Arent' they adorable? So easy to make. It has been actually almost 2 weeks then, but I cannot toss them! Our apartment still looks festive.

We have been looking for a wedding venue in NYC, and it has been fun but so many places to choose from! but most of them are very expensive as you can imagine... hopefully we can find a space for our party soon. I heard wedding dress alternation can take up to 6 months, how crazy is that!?

最近急激に忙しく、ブログ書いて癒される余裕もなく。上記写真は、先々週末のパーティーの日。せっかくなので、ぽんぽんいっぱい作って、天井にぶらさげました。かわいすぎて、まだはずしていない今日このごろ、家はまだ派手な感じです、、。捨てられない！

今週末からアムステルダムとロンドンへ出張、大きなカンファレンスに参加する予定です〜。ちょうど去年の９月もアムステルダムにいたっけな。またハイネケン飲まなくては。

結婚式は来年しようと思っているのですが、場所を選ぶのに一苦労。いろいろな場所がありますが、ご想像通りNYは高い！希望のサイズや場所にあう場所を見つけるのが大変です。早く決まるといいなー。友人にもらったアドバイスは、ドレスのサイズを直すのに、半年はかかるから、早くドレスを選べと。まじで！びっくら〜。ちなみにアメリカはウェディングドレスはレンタルではなくて、買うのが普通です。それでも平均的には日本で借りるのより安いんじゃないかな？お色直しはメジャーではないです。

中国おもしろメニュー

忘れてた、、香港いたときの、レストランメニュー。いいレストランでした。しかし、「発酵させた豆腐魚」や、「らげと」「ガちよラの墨魚」など、中々難しく、

「魚のナつば辛スープ」や、「とうろこしとチキソのとみスープ」ともなると、グーグルトランスレーターで訳してもそうはならないだろっ！と、突っ込みたくなります。

最近のWTC現場

いやぁ、ちょっと久しぶりにブログを読み返してしまった。こうやってみるといろんな写真をアップロードしてきたなと。昔はしかもたらたら色々書いていたのう。最近はちょっとリーダー層の幅が広がってしまったことを自覚して、あんまり心のうちを書いてないけど、それじゃああんまり面白くないよね。うんうん。たまにはダークsaknakでもさらけ出さねば？！

最近、WTCの工事現場の様子をアップロードしてなかったと思って。（普段いかに私が写真を撮っているか、まあ、もうみんな知ってるよね。）たまに通勤途中に工事現場を撮って、日本の親友の携帯に配信してます。丁度日本は夜なので飲んでる写真とかが返ってきます。あ。話がそれた。最近は見上げるまでにも高くなっちゃって。頑張ってるわ工事のスタッフ。これは一週間ぐらい前の写真かな。この建物の後ろがうちのオフィスだけど、もう見えなくなってしまった。このタワーがマンハッタン一高い建物に成る予定です。

Pumpkin Season

I work with the currently for some projects, they are very professional & funny people. Their manager gave the office carved pumpkin, isn't it nice?? This photo was taken for my boss in Tokyo. 

現在仕事で一緒に働いてる人たち。ミーティングがあったのでオフィスに行くと、ハロウィーン用のパンプキンが置いてありました。写真に写っている彼、若く見えますが偉いのです。彼がオフィスへのプレゼントとして友達の「プロかぼちゃ掘り師」に頼んで作ってもらったそうです。他のかぼちゃも置いてありました。素敵。うちの上司は絶対こんな気の利いた事はしないだろうな。笑

ダライラマに質問

少し前に。友達が、「友人がダライラマ法王を取材するのに、質問を集めている」ということで、質問を集めていたのです。だから、質問をいくつか提出したのですが！そのうち２つが採用されたらしく、１１月に講談社出版の本にも出るらしい！

本に出ると言うか、まさか人生でダライラマに質問できるなんて思ってもいなかったので、嬉しい〜。答え期待しちゃうよね。。（笑）本が出たら又紹介します。回答はまだ私も知らないので。。こんなことがあるもんだね！

Hiking in Maryland

Another thing we were excited about was having our dogs to meet! They used to live in portland and I never thought Nico will get to see their dog Nalah but finally the day comes~! We decided to go on a hike near their house. They were really excited....

Leaves were still pretty green but the weather was so perfect, we enjoyed walking around with dogs. Dogs get along so well and they ran around in the woods, hiking cannot be any funner!

メリーランドのハイキングスポット。犬をハイキングに連れて行くのが目的！前は彼女達はオレゴンに住んでいたので、犬達は一生会う事がないかと思っていたので、当人達は犬より大喜び？　この自然にくると、やっぱアメリカの自然いいなぁ、としみじみ思います。犬達も走り回り、一瞬りすか？鹿か？を追いかけて森の奥深くに消えて行った、、呼んでも帰ってこないから大丈夫か！？と思ってたら、５分ぐらいして現れた。動物の死体をくわえてなくて、一安心。

Visiting D.C. -Brunch

This weekend I visited our good friends from Oregon. They have recently moved to D.C. (Maryland) and I finally visited them...! I wanted to do this for a while then I had so many business trips and couldn't happen until now. It was third time to visit D.C. for me, about 4 hours drive from NYC but totally worth it to see my best friend!! My friend with cute houses for background.

Buildings are really different from NYC of course, a lot of gov. buildings, clean city, nice metro....  It was such a beautiful weekend too, we decided to go grab a nice brunch near Eastern market.

Hello Capital!

オレゴン時代からの仲良しが、D.C.に引っ越してしばらく。ずっと遊びに行こうと思ってたんだけど、ようやく週末行ってきました。NYから運転する事約４時間。景色もがらりとかわります〜。きれいでエレガントな建物、街もきれいだし、地下鉄もきれいだし。どうしてこうも違うかね！！とっても秋晴れの（むしろ夏のような）天気の中、女子は早起きして、おいしいと有名なブランチを食べに行きました。

Market Lunch, is what's it's called I think. They are in the part of farmer's market place and there is a line from early morning!! people are waiting for their well known blue berry pancakes. We ordered buck wheat blue berry pancakes, crab cakes, (so crab!) grits, scrambled eggs, potatoes and fried green tomatoes.... (yummmmmm) Although the line was long, it went pretty quick. We grabbed food and ate outside.  Pancake was fluffy and crab cake had so much crab meat, worth waiting in the line. It was such a nice market, they had fresh meat, fish etc. I wish this place was close from my house.

朝から女子は、マーケットランチ、というところにブランチへ。有名らしくて早朝から行列。NY Timesの記事も貼ってあるけど、1985年とかの記事だし！（笑）この行列は歴史的らしく。ブルーベリーパンケーキが有名で、色々頼みましたよ〜。ブルーベリーパンケーキ、クラブケーキ、フライドグリーントマト、、、写真撮ったけど全般的に茶色くて別においしそうにみえないから掲載しません。（笑）でもおいしいし、値段も良心的で、3人で$30ぐらい。又行きたい！男性陣は、朝からブランチ、の為に行列なんて並んでいられないと、寝ていたのでした。

根岸さんは日本人か？

ノーベル賞騒いでますが。
満州生まれで５０年前にアメリカに移住してきたという根岸さん。
日本のメジャーメディアが両手を挙げて「日本人快挙」的報道をしていて、神経おかしいんじゃないかと思う。（去年も確かそんなんだったっけ、、）

その人が何人か、って決めるのは私たちの世代はますます難しくなってるけど、、
３年アメリカに住んだだけでも「私はもう日本人という自覚はない」という人もいれば、アメリカで生まれても「私は誰よりも日本人だと思っている」という人もいる。

だから。別に根岸さんが何人でも別にいいんだけど。


でも彼の受賞は、日本がお祭り騒ぎみたいに素直に喜べることなのか？だいたい彼が日本人だって、誰が決めたのかなぁ。別にメディアの１つぐらい、それを疑問に呈するところがあってもいいと思うんだけど。ネットではそんな議論は２チャンネルぐらいしか見なかったな。

Finally Reupholster the bench!

finally...! I got this bench in August wanting to renovate it but then it took time to find a right fabric, also I had to be away for 3 weeks and I wasn't able to complete it until today but here it is! I put yellow cheerful echino fabric over the bench, Brian helped me reupholster, it wasn't that difficult!  Thanks for friends helping me choosing the fabric, thanks D for renting your stapling gun for us!

ベンチ買って、ずっと張り替えようと思ってたのがようやく出来ました。布選ぶのにも時間かかって（結局日本の布だし！布は日本が良いということが分かった）出張入ったのでしばらく時間がなくて、ようやく完成！そんなに思っていたより難しくなかったよ。こういうクッションのところが取り外せるのは、それを外して布をホチキスで貼るだけ！そんなんでいつまで持つのか少し心配だけど（笑）一応完成した。めでたしめでたし。

My ring is back!

I got my ring back! since the ring was big and I was able to customize it, We went back to the jewelry designer in LES and talked how we want it be made. I knew her rings  from some blog but they are really beautiful and I was really excited to see her in person. Her studio was really awesome too! (as you can see...) 

やっと指輪が返ってきました。大きかったのでリサイズと、好きな色とかセッティングに変える事が出来たので、デザイナーのサラと相談して作り直していました。（っていってもシンプルな指輪ですが。）彼女の作品は前からブログなどで見ていて知っていたのですが、NYのアーティストだったとは知らず。素敵なスタジオを構え、ジュエリーをLower East Sideで作っています。すごくいい人で、実際に会えて嬉しかった！（これで本人がいけてなかったら、やだったよね。笑）
